  11. GENERAL INFORMATION  : The 286 server is running two NP600s one
  12.                        of which is the backbone to the 386 which
  13.                        is running three NE2000s.  The users on
  14.                        the 286 use some of the information on the
  15.                        386 server.  The users on the 386 almost
  16.                        never need access to the 286 server.

  18.             PROBLEM  : When the backbone is attached to an
  19.                        NE2000 set at IO address 340h the NE2000
  20.                        will no longer receive from the NP600.
  21.  
  22.            SOLUTION  : We switched the backbone cable to a card
  23.                        set at IO address 300h and the cards are
  24.                        working fine.  The workstations have Western
  25.                        Digital 8003Es in them.

  27. COMMENTS (Optional)  : It seems that the IO address affects the
  28.                        resistance of the BNC connection of
  29.                        NE2000.  We set several NE2000s up with
  30.                        different IO addresses and tested for
  31.                        resistance after IPX was run on separate
  32.                        cable segements.  The resistance did vary
  33.                        on each card after the IO was changed, but
  34.                        the variance was not uniform or
  35.                        predictable.  I think that the large
  36.                        change in resistance that accounts for the
  37.                        problem with the NP600 is confined to a
  38.                        small number of cards.
