Getting Started

The AT&T a2b music Player (for Windows 95/98 or Windows NT) is available at no cost from the a2b music Store Home Page. Simply visit this site and follow the instructions for downloading the player. This is the player you need to play downloaded files in our mime-encoded song format on your PC.

Important Note:
You cannot successfully download any of our digital songs without first installing the a2b music Player.

Before You Begin

Before installing the Player to your PC, please ensure that following minimum requirements are met.

  • 100 Mhz Pentium
  • 16 MB RAM
  • Microsoft Windows 95/98 or NT 3.51/4.0
  • Sound Blaster compatible sound card (16 bit or better)
  • a 32-bit web browser: Netscape 3.03+ or Internet Explorer 3.0+ or America Online 3.0+
  • 2 MB available disk space

Also be sure to close your browser(s) so our install can reconfigure your browser to enable you to download songs.

Installation

Once you have downloaded the a2b music Player install EXE file you want to start the install process. If this is not done automatically via your browser options setup, then either double-click on it within File Manager or Windows Explorer , or refer to it as your Installation Program using the Add/Remove Programs applet within your Control Panel.

As soon as it starts up you will see the following window:

Clicking the Yes button results in InstallShield autoload and the a2b music Setup Program is initiated. Note that we strongly recommend that you exit all running Windows programs before proceeding.

If you already have a version of the a2b music Player installed on your PC, you will be prompted to Un-install it. Please replace you older copy of our Player with this latest one ... and don't worry: your song files will not be removed!

Clicking the Next button at the bottom of our Welcome window continues the installation process, wherein our License Agreement is presented for your approval.

After reading and accepting the license agreement by pressing Yes we present the Readme Information to remind you of our information sites.

The default location is appropriate for most installation sites, but you may install a2b music Player on any drive your browser can see. Pressing Next moves you to the Program Folder window.

Icons for the a2b music Player and for ReadMe.txt will be added to the program group of your choice.

Lastly, we review all of your setup information prior to the actual install. If you wish to alter any of this information, use the Back key to navigate back to the appropriate window. Once you hit the Next key, the a2b music Player files will be copied onto your PC.

Upon completion, Setup displays the Finished window. If you wish to view the ReadMe file you can choose to do so. You may also choose to invoke the a2b music Player, at which time Digital Identification will occur.

Starting the a2b music Player

After successful installation, your Start Menu now contains a new executable for a2b music: AT&T a2b music Player.

To startup the a2b music Player double-click on the player icon within the AT&T a2b music Start menu. If you have deleted this start menu window then you may bring up the a2b music Player by the standard procedure:
