New Game

The new game screen lets you prepare your entry in the hall of fame, or planly, enter your pilot name (upper left), choose your ship(upper right), choose the game mode(middle left) and select the galaxy in which you want to play(lower left).

Pilot name

Click on the edit field to enter your name.

Ship

Choose your ship by clicking on the ship you want. Information about the ship is displayed on lower right.

Game mode

You can choose between two game mode: campaing and arcade. Your goal is to reach the last sector to blow away the alien base.

The campaing mode lets you go anywhere in the selected galaxy by using a warp device. When you activate your warp device, you get to the Galaxy Screen and select the sector in which you want to go. Furthermore, when you have collected enough metal pieces, you can get to your base to refit your ship.

The arcade mode will make you play the whole galaxy sector by sector in a sequential order. From time to time, you will have a friendly base where you can dock and refit your ship. You automatically warp out of the current sector when this sector is empty.

Galaxy

Relative to the game mode selected, you see the galaxies you can play. Just click on the galaxy you wish to enter.

When you are ready, click on the lower-right button, "Play". If you selected campaign mode, you'll get to the galaxy screen, and if you selected arcade mode, you'll get directly into combat.

Load

The upper part of the load screen shows information about the saved games to help remember which is which. This information is shown by passing over a saved game name in the list box.

When you made your choice, select the saved game you want by clicking on it, and hit the load button at the lower right.

Hit ESC to display the config pop-up (the controls are displayed on this popup).

Multiplayer

A series of queries will let you enter the necessary information to start a multiplayer game.

First, select the type of connection. You can choose between serial, modem and IPX network. The option to get an Internet (PPP) connection is there, but the game is slow over the Internet.

Second, choose if you will host a game, or join an existing one. You can't join a game if theres nobody already hosting one.

Third, if you host, you'll be asked to enter name for the session you are hosting. If you are joining, you will see a list of existing sessions. Click on the session you wish to join, and afterwards, click on play.

Once this is done, you get to a screen very similar to the New Game screen. Enter the information as it pleases you, and play the game as soon as you are ready.

NOTE: The host must be in the game screen before another player can join the game.

Config

Here you can set a few options about the game. This menu can also be brought up in the combat screen by pressing the ESC key.

You can set the music volume and the sound volume by dragging the proper sliders at the upper left.

In the same section you can turn on and off the mine collision sound, the shield activation sound and the gun sound when it's shooting. When the light is green, the option is on, and when the light is red, the option is off.

The jukebox let you choose the song you want to hear. You have the play button to play the selected song and the stop button to make the noise stop bugging you.

The Game controller box let you turn on/off the joystick. When the joystick is on, you cannot control your ship with the keyboard. Obviously, you need a joystick installed in Windows to use this option.

The game speed slider let you accelerate or turn down the game speed. It's fun to have if you get into a terrible sector where everything happens too fast.

The Friction in Space toggle when "ON" make your ship slow down by itself. When off, you are actually using the real space physics where your momentum slows down only if you accelerate in the opposite direction or hit something.

The wrap around toggle gives you the option to have wrap around sector where you never hit any boundaries. When off, you will meet the end of the sector, and everything else will bounce off an imaginary limit.

The auto save option saves the game automatically from time to time. The autosave file is always overwritten. If something stops the game abrutly, you can reload the autosaved game from the load screen by selecting the save game called "autosave".

Finally, on the right, you have a description of the most usefull keys to play the game.

Highscore

In this screen you can take a look at the highscores of the previously played games. Nothing to it really, just fun to look at it.
