You can argue 'til you're blue in the face about the decay of British culture or the decline of British sport, but there's one feature of Britain that is definitely on the up - the pub. The increased interested in good pubs has spawned a whole mass of guides, to lead the weary traveller to the ultimate hostelry. In fact, there are so many guides now, that it's time for a guide to the guides. I've avoided books that are totally oriented to restaurants, or are obsessed with beer, looking for more of an all-round picture. Cheers.
