Quarantine for potentially infected objects
|
Quarantine is a special repository where objects that could be infected with viruses are placed.
Potentially infected objects are objects that are suspected of being infected with viruses.
Why potentially infected? It is not always possible to exactly determine when an object is infected. This could be for the following reasons:
Threat signatures contain threats that have been identified to date by Active Virus Shield specialists. If a malicious program is altered and these changes have not yet been entered into the signatures, Active Virus Shield classifies the object as infected with the changed malicious program as a potentially infected object and without fail will indicated what threat this infection resembles.
- The code of the object detected is reminiscent in structure of a malicious program; however, nothing similar is recorded in the threat signatures.
It is quite possible that this is a new type of threat, so Active Virus Shield classifies that object as a potentially infected object.
A heuristic code analyzer that contains up to 92% of new viruses determines which files may have a virus,. This mechanism is fairly effective and very rarely leads to false positives.
You can place an object in the quarantine by yourself by clicking Quarantine in the special notice that pops up when a potentially infected object is detected.
Files in the quarantine are saved in a special format and are not dangerous.
