Functions and features

Based on the menubar, all the functions of NMI's Java Code Viewer will be discussed. When a button corresponds with a specific menu-item, the image of the particular button will be displayed.

The File menu The Edit menu
  • Java class files > Select all select
    Will select all class files of the currently opened directory in the Java class files list.
  • Java class files > Clear all clear
    Will clear your current selection of Java class files in the Java class files list.
  • NMI's source-code files > Arrange files by name arrange
    Will arange all files in the NMI's source-code files list lexicographically (by name).
  • NMI's source-code files > Enter existing source-code files enter
    All existing source-code files with the formats .nmi, .java and .dis within the current directory will be entered in the NMI's source-code files list.
  • NMI's source-code files > Remove file entries remove
    Will remove all files from the NMI's source-code files list. The files will not be deleted.
  • Explore explore
    Will open the selected directory in an Explorer window. This function will pop-up an error-dialog if no directory has been selected.
  • Edit all: [[Pfe32]] edit all
    Will start up the selected editor. By default, this is Pfe32 - the Programmer's File Editor. Pfe32 will automatically load all current source-code files from the NMI's source-code files list. If this list contains no file entries, this function will simply start-up Pfe32.
The Options menu
  • Decompilation format > nmi
    Sets the format (extension) of the generated source-code files to .nmi for the decompilation process only; the format of the disassembly process is always .dis. The .nmi format is the default setting.
  • Decompilation format > java
    Sets the format (extension) of the source-code files to .java. Please note that using this setting, the generated source-code files may overwrite your original Java source-code files.
  • Set editor > Programmer's File Editor Pfe32
    Will set the included, light-weight, freeware Pfe32 as NJCV's editor.
  • Set editor > Browse to executable
    Will let you select your own editor. The name of the editor of your choice will appear as the Edit all: [[Editor]] in the Edit menu. Please note that editors other than Pfe32 may not support loading multiple source-code files.
  • Restore defaults
    Will resize NMI's Java Code Viewer to its default size and position it in the center of your screen. The decompilation format is set to .nmi and Pfe32 is set as your editor.
The Help menu
  • Register
    Will pop-up a dialog window to register NMI's Java Code Viewer. Enter your name or your company's name, select your country and enter your registration key. This menu-item is disabled if the copy of NJCV is already registered.
  • Help topics help
    Will display the NMI's Java Code Viewer help topics in your default web browser. These topics contain help on the basics, describe the different functions and also contain the license agreement. All help topics can also be found in the doc subdirectory of NJCV.
  • About about
    Will pop-up a dialog window with information about the current release of NMI's Java Code Viewer, the version of Jad and Pfe32 and to whom the NJCV copy is registered to.
