Learn the difference between backing up and archiving
Tip: For easier reading, click (above).
Backing up is making a copy of everything in your working Money file. Archiving goes a step further by actually removing old transactions from your file to keep it to a manageable size. You store the removed transactions in an archive file in case you ever need to refer to them.
For example, if you start with the file My Money.mny, archiving makes a copy of the entire file. Money asks you to give the archive file a new name (ôMy Money 1999.mnyö for example). After you've done this, Money removes old transactions from the file My Money.mny. You can specify which types of transactions to remove, and how far back you want Money to archive.
If you need to refer to an archived file, click Open on the File menu. Enter the name and location of the archive file, and then click OK.
