Troubleshooting RsmConfg

Once changers are manually configured, they are no longer auto-configurable. Therefore, any device configuration change will not be detected by Removable Storage.

Using RsmConfg is the same as a manual configuration.
To access the changer and mount media, the Removable Storage service must be stopped. If you do not the permission to stop the service you will see an error message.
All stand-alone drives should be empty when RsmConfig starts. As Removable Storage might confuse some changer drives with stand-alone drives, unload media from any changer drives. As a guide, the wizard will display the drive name(s) containing media.
If the unconfigured changer does not contain any media, you must inject media in that changer. Otherwise, mapping won't occur.
If it is not possible to communicate with the changer or any of the drives, the manual configuration wizard won't work and you will see the appropriate error message.
The registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ NtmsSvc\Config has one subkey for each changer.
If the changer is accessible, but auto-configuration failed to map properly, the DriveNumbers data for that changer subkey will have a correct value and there will be a ??? entry for each unmapped drive bay.

This indicates the manual configuration wizard will work. If these entries are not created when Removable Storage starts up, then the manual wizard also will not work.
