Configuring Metabase Properties for Microsoft NNTP Service

The metabase is a hierarchical database that is used to store configuration values for IIS and for the services that are installed with IIS. In previous versions of the service, you could set these values by editing the registry. Although some configuration values still reside in the registry, most values have been moved to the metabase because it provides a greater degree of configuration control. By modifying the metabase, you can set server properties at the computer level, the NNTP site level, and the virtual directory level.

The metabase can be modified by configuring values through the use of Internet Service Manager, the IIS Admin Objects interface (which conforms to the Microsoft Active Directory Services Interface (ADSI)), or the IIS Admin Base Objects interface (which is implemented through Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM)).

This section documents all of the IIS Admin Objects and associated properties that are specific to Microsoft NNTP Service. For information about programmable objects in general, other IIS Admin Objects, and other metabase properties, see the Administrator's Reference and the Programmer's Reference in the IIS documentation.
