Protecting your mail from viruses
Kaspersky Anti-Virus provides real-time protection of incoming and outgoing messages.enable real-time protection and make sure that the Disable Real-Time Mail Protection box in the Troubleshooting dialog box is unchecked.
The following rules of Kaspersky Anti-Virus operation apply to email messages:
- Your email is protected from viruses regardless of which mail client you use1. All incoming and outgoing messages are scanned as soon as they are received or sent.
- Upon detection of an infected object in a mail message, a recommended action will be performed on each infected object: Kaspersky Anti-Virus will attempt to disinfect such object and, if disinfection is not possible, delete the object from the mail message.
- If you use mail services of remote web-servers with an Internet browser, for example, with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Kaspersky Anti-Virus will scan attachments when you open them or save them to your disk.
Email databases imported from other computers but not yet connected may be checked for viruses by starting an on-demand scan.
- Make sure that box Do not scan mailboxes in the Troubleshooting dialog box is unchecked.
- Click Scan objects in the left section the Protection tab.
- In the Select Objects to Scan dialog box, check the box Mailboxes.
- Click Scan.
As a result, all Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express mail databases and mail format files will be scanned.
To scan email databases in the format of another email program (for example, TheBat) or databases that you have on disk (for instance, brought home from the office),1Kaspersky Anti-VirusĀ« Personal provides real-time protection of all incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP email messages.
