What's new in Version 5.0?
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 has the following features not found in Version 4.5:
- Maintaining scanned objects database. Now Kaspersky Anti-Virus does not scan objects analyzed during the last scan that have not changed since then. This rule applies now not only to real-time protection but also to the on-demand scan. This feature greatly improves the speed and performance of the program.
- Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 now provides scanning and disinfecting of incoming and outgoing e-mail messages for any e-mail client that receives mail using POP3 and sends mail using the SMTP protocol. The previous version protected only Microsoft Exchange compatible e-mail clients.
- Disinfecting infected archives. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 disinfects infected files in zip, arj, cab, and rar archives. The previous version provided detection and disinfection of infected files in zip archives only.
- User-friendly interface. Version 5.0 is a single program, whereas the previous release consisted of several components each performing their own anti-virus protection function. This new approach simplifies control over the most important functions of the program. Thus, now you can set the anti-virus protection level by simply moving a slider rather than editing settings.
- Recommended settings and experts' tips. To simplify program operation, the default settings of this version of the program match the settings recommended by Kaspersky Labs experts. Now there is no need to configure the program before use. When the anti-virus protection level is set to minimum, the program displays a message that offers the user various options to switch to a higher level of anti-virus protection.
- Product license renewal. Users of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 can now install a new license key, thus extending the license period.
- Sending your files for analysis to Kaspersky Labs. Now you can send us possibly infected files detected by Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 or files that you suspect may be infected.
- The possibility to delete infected composite objects has been removed. You will not be able to delete infected composite objects (archives, e-mail clients' databases or e-mail files) using the current version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus. However, you can still delete such objects using standard Windows tools, with the exception of self-extracting archives.
