The default tab panel provides a variety of buttons that give access to gmax features. By default, the Tab panel is hidden and does not appear in view. If, however, you right-click on the Main Toolbar, and turn on Tab Panel, it will appear at the top of the gmax window, directly above the viewports. You can also"float" the individual tabs so they appear in windows of their own.
These are the default tab panels:
You can customize the contents of the tab panels, or create tab panels of your own. This is particularly useful in conjunction with macrorecording using MAXScript. See Customizing the User Interface.
Procedures
To display the tab panels:
Right-click the main toolbar, and choose Tab Panel.
This menu item is a toggle. It is either on or off. Floating tab panels continue to be displayed even when Tab Panel is off.
To float a tab panel:
Click the tab label, and drag away from the main window. The tab panel is now floating. You can reposition, resize, or dock it.
To dock a floating tab panel, do one of the following:
Drag the panel by its title bar to the top, bottom, left, or right edge of the main window. The mouse cursor and the panel outline change shape at a docking location. Release the mouse.
The tab panel docks automatically when you drag it to a "dockable" location. Tab panels can dock at the top, bottom, left, or right of the viewports. They can also dock on either side of the command panels.
Right-click the tab panel's title bar, choose Dock, and then Top, Bottom, Left, or Right.
