  4. `A save-game edit cheat  -  By Simon Burrows

  8. `Okay, here's another  old game  I've driven through the hexxers,
  9. `and herewith enclosed are the results the hexxers' have  chucked 
  10. `back out at me!

  13. `Basically there are two options here:
  14. `
  15. `
  16. `i)  You edit the section of the saved-game-data-file which tells 
  17. `    the  game what  stats to give your character when you choose
  18. `    'new game'.  By editing  this  you  can  turn the 'new game'
  19. `    option into a cheat  option which  will start you a new game
  20. `    with loads of gold and hit points to thrust upon your enemy.
  21. `
  22. `ii) You actually edit a current saved-game  (the second one down
  23. `    on the 'load game' list [underneath 'new game']).
  24. `
  25. `
  26. `Whichever  one of these you  choose, the bytes you  enter at the  
  27. `required hex-adress in the saved-game-data-file are the same. It
  28. `can be anything you like depending on what  totals you want your
  29. `gold and hit points to be set to.  Here's my recommendation :-

  32. ~`0F 27 0F 27 0F 27    ->    9999/9999 hit points & 9999 gold pieces
  33. `
  34. `
  35. `WARNING:  Do not use the  maximums  (FF FF FF FF FF FF)  as this
  36. `          seems to screw things up loads!...

  38. `
  39. `The file you need to edit to make these changes is called RPG.SAV
  40. `Pop this up inside a hex-editor and do your stuff...
  41. `
  42. `So finally we get to  the hex adresses you  need to edit.  Which 
  43. `one  you want will depend on  which of the two options listed at 
  44. `the top of this document you want.  They are as follows :-

  47. ~` for i)  Hex 00
  48. ~`for ii)  Hex 8E
  49. `
  50. `
  51. `Make  sure  that you  only use  the  second  option  if  you have 
  52. `already  saved a game, otherwise  it will  not work, but  it will 
  53. `screw up the file.
