  18. Other things that help Executor run more smoothly:
  19. The "Misc" tab:
  20. Disable Allow screen saver (After Dark likes to freeze Executor... took me
  21. quite a while to figure out what was going on.)  Also set Idle sensitivity
  22. all the way to Low.
  23. The "Screen" tab:
  24. Set Executor to run Full-screen (saves Windows 95 from figuring this out of
  25. its own, which often causes Executor
  26. to be minimized... some graphics cards have a hard time restoring from this.)
  27. The "Program" tab:
  28. Check on Close on Exit (takes one step out of your day.)

  30. Also, I should point out that the DPMI setting above may not apply to
  31. everyone.  With a computer with 8 Meg memory, for instance, setting DPMI at
  32. 13 Meg can cause more complex programs (like Word and HyperCard) to crash
  33. Executor.  Running executor -info will tell you how much DPMI memory you
  34. should specify.  (I'm also a bit confused as to why the DPMI memory was set
  35. so much higher than the -applzone... you might as well have left it on Auto
  36. since the way you have it, you're telling Executor you have 13 Meg of DPMI
  37. memory, which you really don't, but you're using only 5.75M total DPMI
  38. memory, which you probably do have.)  I mean, I've gotten Executor to think
  39. it has 60 Meg RAM available to its applzone, but probably 1/3 of my apps
  40. baulked at this.  Ultimately, increasing the DPMI setting allows you to set
  41. a higher -applzone, which is why you've likely not had problems (with your
  42. applzone set well into normal range for an 8 Meg system.)  I just wanted to
  43. point out that setting both the DPMI setting and the applzone setting higher
  44. than what executor -info tells you is available can cause Executor to crash
  45. and burn.  I would suggest leaving DPMI on Auto as well.
