  9. Welp, I ended up buying such a card off someone here on campus.  It ends up
  10. making some difference, but for programs like the rotating globe program I'm
  11. not seeing much of a change.  I'm still planning on keeping the board for
  12. other reasons (such as I can populate to 2MB).

  14. However, in my testing I found out something very interesting.  -privatecmap
  15. _slows down_ some programs dramatically, notably Civilization.  It would be
  16. nice to find out if anyone else knows of programs that are somewhat usable
  17. without a private colormap and that are almost totally unusable (due to
  18. speed concerns) with a private colormap.  This really surprised me, as all
  19. my inuition (and information) pointed to -privatecmap as being decidedly
  20. faster.
