  40. But we don't do that.  We open /dev/dsp and then make ioctls and if
  41. any of them fail we decide you don't have sound.  From my perspective
  42. it looks like there's a problem with demand-loading sound.

  44. I will not be able to take a look at this until after E2 is out, but
  45. anyone who is real curious could probably use the system call tracing
  46. program (strace?) and see where the failure is happening.
