-
- The first thing you should do is write-protect both cartridges. If
- the filesystem is corrupt then further writing to the filesystem may
- make things worse.
-
- The second thing to do is make byte-for-byte copies of the cartridges
- so that you can experiment on the copies. You'll need to find someone
- who has 135 MB of free hard disk space and some sort of utility that
- can copy a cartridge to disk. Under Linux or other UNIX like systems
- that should be easy to do. I'm not sure how easy it is to do under
- other systems.
-
- Once you have duplicate cartridges you should try the latest Norton
- Utilities for the Macintosh, run on a real Mac, not under Executor. I
- believe Symantec is the company that makes NU for Mac and that it may
- now be bundled with or included in Symantec's own product. Norton may
- be able to repair any filesystem damage or allow you to extract the
- most valuable data from your cartridge.
-
- If Norton can't help you out it may still be possible to recover the
- data by doing a raw search through the cartridge.
-
- If you can write up and send to us a detailed description of what you
- were doing with the cartridges and any irregularities you may have
- seen (error messages, Executor deaths, etc.), we will see if we can
- find anything that could have caused this trouble. The only thing I
- can think of that might cause this would be if you were running a disk
- cache on your system when you were running Executor.
