- Hi Robert...
-
- I am using Executor here at home with my PC and a SCSI ZIP drive.
- It's a simple Adaptec 1542C, but any other SCSI host adapter should
- do, too. You only need to be able to access your drive from DOS
- (at least that's my experience), so you can even use doublespace
- or jam on that drive to double your capacity (i usualy do that with
- my zip disks for home use).
- I used it already on a Macintosh, too, and it's just really easy
- (although i don't rely on the termination switch of the drive, i
- usualy use an active scsi terminator).
-
- Now to encode/decode files: All you need is Stuffit and StuffitExpander
- (you don't necessarily need StuffitExpander, but its much easier
- to decode with it :). Rest should be pretty obvious, just just need
- to always remeber that as soon as you copy something from Executor
- or a Macintosh to a dos disk the file usualy looses it's resource
- fork and therefor if it wasn't only a textfile it won't be transfered
- correctly. So that's what binhex is for, it converts any macintosh
- binary file (e.g. an archive, application etc.) into a textfile.
- Stuffit as far as i know has this ability already builtin (or was
- it StuffitExpander?! ;).
-
- Hope this helps.
-
- Read ya, Phil
