Thats the exact same card I have. It's works just great for me too, except for the fact that it wont run at anything greater than 640x480-- but this is a limitation of SVGAlib, as I understand it. > > none of the a.out programs i have work with the new lib. however, and > this seems a bit odd, ld (or is it ldd?), is able to deal with the two > versions. i have the old libvga.so.1 in /usr/local/lib and i put the > new stuff in /usr/lib. this seems to work ok. > > the major problem i have now is that the console is unusable after > using executor-svga. the screen is completely messed up and the only > way i can get it back is by rebooting, not my favorite thing to do > frequently. i'm also running SVGATextMode to get a better display on > the console so perhaps this is a problem... Sorry to waste bandwidth on the executor mailing list, but I thought this may be on interest to others who see the same problem-- I also had this problem of the console being unusable, and have found a few different solutions to it... First off, I realized that if you have an X-Windows open on another console, after you exit executor and the screen is messed up, first switch to the X-Windows console (ALT-F7), then switch back to the messed up console (CTL-ALT-F2)... Should be normal again! Then later, I realized that you can use the following line in /etc/vga/libvga.config to fix this problem without the above mentioned hassel: ramdac att20c498 Things work fine now--- I don't think I actually have this ramdac in the STB Powergraph (i found no mention of a ramdac in the documentation for the board), but it appears to be close enough, and works charms! > > in other news, 1.99p seems great. it remembers what windows were open > after i launch an app and remembers things i add to the hot band as > well. these are both great improvements. i'm not sure if this is > just me, but it also seems to run a bit faster now. > > anyway, this is just great for me. i'm looking forward to pounding > out my second publication using Word under executor, hopefully in the > next month! > > hope things are going ok for you folks at ardi, > > - -pjf I'm loving the SVGA version (despite the small resolution), keep up the magic ardi!
