- Hi world,
-
- Good news. I (finally) found a Resource Editor that works with Executor 1.99m.
- As you will recall there have been extensive reports by a.o. myself that
- Apple's ResEdit does
- not work (seems to work but it crashes whenever you try to do something
- useful - come to think
- of it that that is more or less the definition of a computer anyway!).
-
- The one that does work is a very, very, very old version, namely the
- precursor to ResEdit, called
- REdit. Its release date is January, 7th 1986 so it is a bit obsolete to say
- the least.
-
- This was the first publicly available resource editor from Apple (and
- probably still is copyrighted
- by Apple). The version (1.2) I tested comes from CompuServe, but it might be
- available on the net also.
-
- The program (REDIT.APP) probably is much more limited than ResEdit 2.1.3 but
- it is a start.
- There also is an excellent (MacWrite) manual in the file REDIT.WRT
-
- I tried editing an icon and that worked fine (in b/w though; in 1986 there
- were no color Macs).
-
- I fully agree with Clifford's remarks about not uploading software to this
- mailing list so you will not find
- it here, but if someone emails me directly I can send the two files to you.
- Please bear in mind that this
- probably still is Apple copyrighted software which implies that you probably
- can only use this software
- legally when you own a Mac (thus having paid for the operating system). I
- own a PB165 so I am fine =:-)
