The use I've had for Screen Updates is to get HyperCard 2.1 to limp under older versions of Executor. I'm using Executor 1.3c, and if I set the refresh rate to 10, I can see the HyperCard cards. It worked well enough for me to copy pictures from HyperCard stacks for inclusion in a chapter I wrote about HyperCard for a soon-to-be-published book. I'd also like to vouch for Executor in general. I wrote the chapter mentioned above in Microsoft Word for compatibility with the book's editor. Executor worked like a charm. Word didn't do such a hot job of importing EPS pictures from Diagram. And it occassionally claimed that it ran out of memory. These seemed to be Word problems rather than Executor problems. I'm looking forward to a newer version of Executor that will let me do more with HyperCard than display the cards. I'm intrigued by Cliff's comments about discussions with Apple's MAE group. I just tried MAE on a Sun. Hmmm. Beth Katz beth@raven.millersv.edu
