We were playing with Managing Your Money and found that
it worked better (printing) on the NeXT than on the Mac.
It would be REALLY nice to have MacInTax'92 (any year)
work through Executor. I currently run it on the Mac and
then bring the PostScript over to my NeXT for printing
and it all gets screwed up, but I send it in anyway.
Obviously, around this time of the year, a tax program
running on the NeXT would be handy.

Now that someone has tried Word 5.1, has anyone tried
using EndNote with it through Executor, because the only
bibliography handler on the NeXT is TeX, so this would
be helpful.

I tried loading Cricket Draw III, which has a lot of nice
drawing features, and it crashed immediately. I also tried
loading MacDraw Pro and it worked, but I have not played with
it much yet. I had FrameMaker 2.1 running fine on the NeXT,
as a comparison to the version I have running on the NeXT.
I was interested in seeing if I could share files.

Unfortunately, the 3.0x running on the NeXT is incompatible
with many of the files on 2.1, but I was able to trade MIF
files and clip art between the two applications. FrameMaker
3.0x for the Mac crashed when I tried to load it into
Executor, so the experiment is on hold for now. Still wondering
if anyone has gotten Stuffit (and derivatives) to work under
Executor.

Subject: Stuffit + MacInTax should work in 1.3 (cross your fingers)

Dear Folks,

StuffIt uses an undocumented trap to do some of its
compresssion/decompression.  In addition, there's a seperate bug
related to "working directories" that prevents StuffIt from going
under Executor 1.2.1.

I've figured out the undocumented trap and we now support it.  Since
that was the major obstacle to getting Stuffit working, I'll go back
and work on the minor obstacle.  I don't anticipate sufficient
problems to prevent Stuffit from running under 1.3 (it may already
run "in the lab", I haven't checked recently).

MacInTax was working "in the lab" before Executor 1.2.1 was
finalized, but I think it broke due to some changes in the way files
that begin with two HEX digits are handled.  We won't have time to do
much testing of it, but I believe MacInTax will run under 1.3 as
well.

Subject: Fonts with Executor

I have a Phonetics-IPA font that I use with WriteNow on the NeXT and with Word-4.0D on
the Macintosh.  Is it possible to use this font with Word-4.0D documents within Executor?

I've tried EndNote (1.5.1 I think) and I couldn't get it to run. I'm
getting EndNote Plus in a couple of days. I'll let you know if it
runs.

This is a great idea! this way we can actually try out if the application
we want to run will work under executor! I think a lot ppl out there are not
buying executor because they are not sure if that particular application
will work with executor, and most ppl don't want to just spend $80 to find
out it doesnt' run THAT particular application.
