- Dear Folks,
-
- I will be available in New York City all day on Monday, April
- 4th, and in the morning of Tuesday, April 5th. If you know anyone in
- the area that has a NeXT (I won't be bringing one) and would like a
- demonstration of Executor or a pre-release viewing of V1.2 or
- anything else ARDI related, please have him/her e-mail me and I'll
- try to work something into my schedule. I know my way around
- Manhattan, but don't know much about the other boroughs.
-
- I'm giving people on this list first crack at me; I'll post
- to comp.sys.next.misc on Friday if it looks like I'll have time for
- more demos.

- Subject: much of Apple v. Microsoft tossed out
-
- Dear Folks,
-
- As many of you know, we have excellent technology, backed by
- Mickey Mouse documentation and packaging. If you've ever spoken to
- any of us, we may appear to be overworked and underfed. Much of this
- is due to the tightness of the financial community with respect to
- ARDI. The problem has been that with the Apple v. Microsoft lawsuit
- still pending, no one wants to invest in a company such as ours.
- However, apparently Judge Walker has thrown out much of Apple's case.
- It will take a while for us to circle our wagons and capitalize on
- this event, and in fact, since it wasn't a 100% dismissal, we may
- still have to continue the waiting game, but it's looking good. I
- believe Wednesday's Wall Street journal had an article on page B1
- about the Judge's decision, but I didn't hear about it until now.
-
- With a little bit of funding, we could be much more
- productive, but even in the worst case, where we have to rely totally
- on sales for the rest of our money, we'll still make excellent
- progress towards our goal of having all the "big ticket" applications
- qualified by next NeXTWORLD Expo.

- Subject: Screen Size and Student Prices
-
-
- Nice demo. Which leads me to two questions:
-
- (1) The demo seems to be in compact Mac screen size (512x340), with
- no way to move to larger (in number of pixels) screen sizes. I
- understand that color (and therefore grayscale?) won't be supported
- for a while, but is there any way to use larger screen sizes in 1.1,
- or plans for it in 1.2?
-
- (2) Are there any plans for student/academic pricing? The rationale
- for charging $80 to allow $300 programs to be run seems reasonable.
- But with academic pricing, Word, for example, costs substantially less,
- so much so that it almost costs less than the Executor's big ticket
- charge to run it. ($80 is on the margin of what I and I imagine most
- students can afford for something that would just be used occasionally,
- which is why I've hesitated to buy it so far).
-
- Thanks,
-
