But from talking to other guys I've found that a lot of people never got around to playing this game cause they didn't have the docs. Well folks, it just so happens that I managed to grab a peek at the originals and figure out a few of the keys. Although I know most of the keys, I don't know very much about how to play the game. Just the bare essentials. So if after reading these docs you still haven't got a clue how to play Elite don't come crying to me! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -----=====----- The object of Elite is to travel the galaxy, planet by planet trading with alien life-forms and nuking space pirates. Sound pretty simple, boring maybe? It's not! This game is extremely hard! If you liked Flight Simulator ][, you'll probably like this game. If you thought FS ][ was boring, you might like this game because it at least has some plot to it. But if you can't stand long, drawn out games don't play it! -----=====----- Now on with the docs! You start out in a space dock orbiting the planet Lave. At the space dock you can buy goods to trade (you start out with 100 cr's), buy equipment for you're ship (very expensive!), sell cargo, and if you like just use the time to plot out your next route. When you are through at the dock you can launch out of it and set a course for a planet. When you're course is set, hyperspace to the planet you chose. At each planet there will be a space dock which you must manuvere into, but watch out for space pirates! Every space dock has different goods for sale and at different prices, you have to try and find the ones with high prices to sell your goods and try and find the floating K-Marts (cheap ones) to buy at. I can't quite remember but I think there are at least 1000 differnt planets to check out! When you start getting good you may recieve messages at space docks. Oh ya, I forgot to mention the ratings. When you first start out, you are rated as harmless, but as you get better it goes up to semi-harless (the highest I've gotten) and eventually to Dangerous. -----=====----- Number Key Functions: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ {DOCKED} {IN FLIGHT} [1] - Launch! Button 1 - Increase speed Buttons 1 & 2 at the same time - Decrease speed -----=====----- General Keys: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ [C] - Docking computer (if available) [G] - Galaxy jump (if you have a galaxy jumper) [H] - Hyperspace [E] - ECM Jamming (for enemy missiles) [U] - Unarm missiles [J] - Interstellar jump (jumps you closer to the planet) [T] - Arm missiles (auto lockon target) [M] - Fire missiles [L] - Disk options, load or save game (only while docked) [=] - Pause/options mode [-] - Un-pause -----=====----- Pause/Option Mode Commands: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All these commands must be typed while the game is paused. In other words press [=] then type the command. After the command press [-] to resume playing. These commands are typed as [=]/[command] so that it will be easier to remember. [=]/[K] - Keyboard/Joystick Toggle [=]/[Y] - Reverse Y-axis on joystick [=]/[X] - Reverse X-axis on joystick [=]/[F] - Toggle flashing speed bar [=]/[A] - Adjust joystick [=]/[J] - Reverse joystick X & Y-axis [=]/[G] - Toggle sound -----=====----- Well, that's all the keys I know, so if someone finds any that I didn't mention please let me know.
