- The Budget function allows for editing of budget lists.
- To track expenses, you would assign transactions to
- corresponding budgets. This action signifies budgeting
- a transaction.
-
- All Transaction requesters (Checks, Deposits, etc.) have
- a gadget labelled Budget, which brings up the current
- budget list. From the list, you can budget a transaction
- by simply double-clicking on the desired budget.
- Choosing OKAY (or double-clicking on a budget) from the
- Budget requester will print the selected budget (shown in
- the Budget requester's string gadget) to the right of the
- BUDGET gadget. Choosing CANCEL from the Budget requester
- will erase the transaction's previous budget, effectively
- unbudgeting the transaction.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------
-
- The following lists, by menu, the operations possible
- through the Budget requester along with their keyboard
- equivalents. All the functions below have equivalent
- gadgets, selected with the mouse. If you forget the
- keyboard equivalents, each gadget has a black underscored
- letter which is the key to press with the RIGHT-AMIGA
- key.

- Budget Menu
- -----------
-
- Okay RIGHT-AMIGA Y
-
- Accepts the current list as the budget list for the
- current checkbook. Double-clicking on a budget
- description effectively selects Okay. This feature
- makes the selection of a budget from any
- Transaction requester much easier.
-
- Add RIGHT-AMIGA A
-
- Includes the description in the budget string
- gadget to the current budget list. If the string
- gadget was empty when selecting Add, the string
- gadget becomes active, so you can enter a
- description.
-
- Delete RIGHT-AMIGA D
-
- Removes the mouse-selected budget from the list.
- You must choose the budget description to delete
- with a click of the mouse for Delete to work. The
- selected budget will appear in the string gadget.
-
- Cancel RIGHT-AMIGA N
-
- Terminates the current editing session of the
- budget list. Changes, such as those from the Load,
- Save, Add, Delete, and Clear functions will be
- preserved, unlike other places in the program that
- have Cancel operations. If you are selecting a
- budget for a transaction, Cancel ignores the
- current budget shown in the string gadget and
- preserves the previous budget, if any, of the
- transaction.
-
-
- List Menu
- ---------
-
- Load RIGHT-AMIGA L
-
- Retrieves from disk a specified budget list as the
- current budget list from disk. If a transaction
- references any budget in the current list, you are
- asked if the references should be cleared for all
- transaction before the load is to proceed.
-
- Save RIGHT-AMIGA S
-
- Stores to disk the current budget list under the
- prompted filename. If the file currently exists,
- you are asked if it should be replaced before the
- save is to proceed.
-
- Default RIGHT-AMIGA F
-
- Saves the current budget list as the default budget
- list. When you start a new checkbook (New from the
- main screen), the Information requester offers the
- option to load the default budget list (Use Default
- from the Information Requester). You must have
- already assigned CA: for this to work. The default
- budget list is saved under CA:CAdefault.CAb.
-
- Clear RIGHT-AMIGA E
-
- Removes all the entries in the current budget list.
- If any transactions references any budget in the
- list, you are asked if the references should be
- removed (dereferenced) before clearing the list.
