  1. Contour Palette Help Information

  3. Pulling down this menu item opens
  4. the Contour Palette.  The Contour
  5. Palette gives you direct control
  6. over coloration of your Mandelbrot
  7. and Julia pictures.
  8.  
  9. Mandelbrot and Julia pictures can
  10. take a long time to generate.  They
  11. can also be difficult to color in
  12. such a way as to make them look
  13. pretty.  MandelVroom provides two
  14. things that help alleviate these
  15. problems.
  16.  
  17. First, MandelVroom allows you to
  18. change color schemes and recolor
  19. pictures while they are generating.
  20. Second, MandelVroom gives you a
  21. very flexible and powerful set of
  22. tools for coloring your pictures.
  23.  
  24. MandelVroom treats a Mandelbrot or
  25. Julia picture as a three
  26. dimensional object.  Two of the
  27. three dimensions are the familiar
  28. horizontal and verticle dimesions
  29. of your project's picture window.

  31. You can think of the third
  32. dimension as sticking straight out
  33. of your monitor's screen.
  34. MandelVroom treats this third
  35. dimension as height or altitude.

  37. The Contour Palette gives you a
  38. configurable way of mapping the
  39. third dimension (height) into color
  40. in your project window.

  42. Often, when map makers want to
  43. represent our three dimesional world
  44. on a two dimensional piece of paper,
  45. they use color to represent height.
  46. Map makers provide a key somewhere
  47. on the map indicating which colors
  48. represent specific ranges of
  49. heights.

  51. The Contour Palette is a user
  52. configurable map key that defines
  53. which altitiude ranges get mapped
  54. into the colors available in the
  55. Color Palette.
