  6. You find here a small update of Bad File Finder. 
  7.  
  8. Last year I promised that the netmail-option of BFF should be
  9. expanded. However I received not many reactions, so I decided to
  10. delay the programming of the netmail-option until April or the
  11. upcoming summer. Still some changes are made to this version:
  12.  
  13. - BFF has always used the parameter AF (allfiles) when executing
  14. Tbscan. From version 6.32 on, TBScan will stop the program and
  15. will ask you to press a key. I can imagine that the author of
  16. TBAV has done this. A lot of false reports and positive report
  17. could be given by Tbscan, only it is annoying for people that
  18. want to use BFF in nightly events. I removed this parameter, so
  19. with this version I hope that this problem will be solved.

  27. - As is said above; netmail is for version 3.00 and higher. See
  28. file NETMAIL.1ST about this information.

  30. - You can find 2 additional files in the archive of BFF. BBSBAT
  31. is a program that helps you making batch-files. It will try to
  32. let you understand the basics of BFF. You can also experiment
  33. with it. BFFCFG is a simple program that will make a configurati-
  34. on for you for the usage of BFF. In the future this small program
  35. will be updated when the netmail-option will be more structured.

  37. - I needed to add extended information for netmail-messages. Ugly
  38. netmail-bouncers like O(N)TOUR needs this information otherwise
  39. your message will be nicely garbaged. The local flag, private
  40. flag, the PID- and the INTL-kludge are now correctly added.

  42. - The errorlevels of McAffee's Scan have been implemented
  43.  
  44. - An extra errorlevel of F-Prot has been implemented.

  46. - You might find a file named personal.bff in your directory when
  47. using the netmail-option. Leave this file as it is!

  49. - You will also find a document about the AlarmNet hacklist.

  52. Changes in version 2.53
  53.  
  54. - There hasn't come out an international hack-report since more
  55. than a year now. The Dutch AlarmNet now also implement internati-
  56. onal hacks in their reports. BFF will also give these hacks.
  57.  
  58. - A new very powerful option is that you have the possibility to
  59. manipulate that archive-bit of all archives on your HD. This can
  60. also be very dangerous. Read the manual !! Also some examples are
  61. given in the file examples.bff...
  62.  
  63. The principle of the option R en S are that you're able now to
  64. scan all NEW archives that arrive on your HD at the time that it
  65. suits you.

  67. - A new command with the character I.
  68. In an ascii-file called FILES.BFF you can enter file-specs now
  69. that can be scanned by BFF. In earlier version of BFF only one
  70. directory or drive could be scanned.

  72. - A bug has been solved. The parameter-variables were cleared
  73. insufficiently. Sometimes BFF reacted strange when started-up.

  75. - In earlier versions of BFF, it removed the archive-bits of all
  76. files. With the introduction of the S- and R- option this has
  77. been changed.

  80. First important changes in BFF 2.51 to tell :

  82. - MacAfee's 2.00 has come out. Well, you'd better NOT try to work
  83. with it in combination with earlier versions of BFF. With the new
  84. MacAfee the parameters used by BFF has been changed also. The
  85. parameter /A that can be used with MacAfee 113 and earlier will
  86. not work anymore with version 2.00+. When you look at the file
  87. PATHS.BFF within this package and compare this file with earlier
  88. versions of BFF, you will see that I added one pathline for the
  89. new MacAfee.

  97. I could not find the exit-codes used by MacAfee's 2.00. I hope to
  98. implement them in the next version of BFF.

  100. - You problably have noticed that BFF has come with a BFF.EXE and
  101. a BFF.OVR file. BFF will now try to load your program into EMS-
  102. memory so BFF will become a little quicker, and it will save
  103. lower memory. Users of earlier versions of BFF will know that
  104. memory problems occured with the old MacAfee's Scan. These
  105. problems now also occurred with the latest F-PROT. These problems
  106. are hopefully solved now. The betatester and me were'nt complai-
  107. ning the last week ;-)....

  109. - A little bug has been solved when using the archive-bit option.
  110. When a positive exitcode was received from a archiver or virus-
  111. scanner the archive-bit of the program concerned was stripped.
  112. This can not be the meaning of this.

  114. - I have not received a American Hacklist of Lee Jackson since
  115. september last year now. Also from Bill Lambdin I haven't seen
  116. anything. Maybe that someone can contact me and tell me where to
  117. find the international hacklist. Or better; can anyone tell me if
  118. there IS an international hacklist now. Maybe AlarmNet should
  119. take over and begin international contacts (How 'bout everyone
  120. start learning Dutch :-) ). The Dutch hacklist is up to date with
  121. BFF now (last issue April 1994).

  123. - When using the archive-option and only one file was selected,
  124. BFF did not recognize the filename as a file. It saw the first
  125. character of the filename as a drive-character. It was difficult
  126. to solve, but it works well now...
