- We intend to do the following:
-
- * The hacklist is now Dutch. We will issue a hacklist in the English
- language in January 1995. We will then continue issueing this list every
- tho months. This new international hacklist will be completely new. We
- will try to give more information of a hack found than was before in any
- earlier hacklist/-report. The first time that this hacklist will be
- issued, it will contain information about hacks of a couple of years
- before and is very often incomplete regarding to the new look this
- hacklist will have. Not all the information for this is available anymore.
- But from January 1995 we will maintain the hacklist to the new standards.
-
- The hacklist we have in mind will have the following
- fieldnames:
-
- -> Number - each hack will obtain a number
- -> Filename - the name of the file without the extension
- -> Alias - connections with an other file reported earlier.
- -> Group - a degree between hacks will be made from dangerous to
- harmless.
- -> Extension - the (sort of) extension of the filename reported.
- -> Kind - the kind of program (e.g. Game, BBS-Util, virusscanner).
- -> Date - date of report.
- -> Reporter - name of reporter.
- -> Nodenumber - the nodenumber of the reporter.
- -> Origin - the place of the hack found or name of CDROM.
- -> Spreading - the way the hack has been spread (e.g. upload to BBS).
- -> Description - a short description of the hack.
-
- The hacklist will not be one or more ascii-files but will be supported by
- a program. A convenient reader has already been developed...
-
- * We want to find people that are willing to hatch this hacklist. Maybe we
- can put the hacklist somewhere on a backbone.
-
- * For this list we need information. Lee Jackson had his hack-squad and he
- was very succesful with this. We also want to have a hack-squad. In the
- Netherlands this was also for us very succesful. With the AlarmNet
- grounded in 1992 we have a group of 40 sysops that are connected to
- various nets. When having such a fine group we can help each other when
- someone has e.g. a doubtful file or having virus-problems. This hack-squad
- we want to start with will be listed within one of the following versions
- of the hacklist. Communications can be established in the following ways :
-
- -> An international Fido-echo can be created. How about an area named
- HACKS.
-
- -> Via netmail.
-
- -> Bad File Finder (see below).
-
- You want to join us ? Netmail me on nodenumber 2:282/208.
-
- * I'm a programmer myself. I issue the program Bad File Finder every two
- months. The main objectives of the program is :
-
- -> Scanning your HD for hacks (Lee Jackons's report and AlarmNet hack-
- list).
-
- -> Scanning archives on your HD or CDROM for viruses.
-
- -> A powerful netmail-function (more of the netmail-function to come in
- future versions).
-
- -> The program is freeware for non-commercial usage and it will always
- remain that way.
-
- When we succeed in forming a hack-squad I will create a new version of BFF
- where people will be informed via netmail about new hacks and new versi-
- ons.
-
- * We want to have contact to Lee Jackson and we want to have his permission
- to implement his list in ours. Maybe someone can help...
-
- We hope that we succeed bringing people together the way Lee did before and
- that you show understanding for that what we are doing now. There hasn't
- been an international hacklist for over a year now. Someone has to take the
- initiative to start a new international hacklist. I know that there are in
- the US also people that make hackreports. Maybe that someone can tell me how
- to contact them.
-
- I wish you all a merry Xmas and a happy and healthy new year !
-
- On behalf of the AlarmNet,
-
- Regards,
- Hans Govaarts, AlarmNet HQ.
