- ****************************************************
- This help file is written for users of the latest
- RISCOS versions (3.5 and greater). If this is not
- you look at the file called 'Install' in the help
- directory.

- Purpose
- ~~~~~~~
- Multi-boot is designed to make it easy to have
- several !boot files and select the one you want
- depending on what you are doing. For example you
- could have one file called Games file that opens
- all the filer windows that contain games. You could
- have another file called DTP which loads !Ovation (or
- whatever) and increases the font cache, loads more
- fonts etc. Alternatively the program could be used
- in a situation where several people use the same
- computer and all want different settings; backdrop,
- memory allocations, apps loaded etc.
-
- Instalation
- ~~~~~~~~~~~
- Now you have reaslised the countless benifits of the
- program you will want to know how to get it running
- on your machine ASAP.
-
- You shouldn't have any problems if you follow these
- steps and don't have a strange machine.
-
- NOTE: If you haven't got a hard disc then this
- program is about as much use as an issue of
- Acorn User from 1991. (Before RISCOS3)
-
- STEP1:
- Open the root directory of your hard disc. If your
- stuck already go and read the Acorn User Guide from
- cover to cover - twice.
-
- STEP2:
- Now hold down SHIFT and double click on the !boot
- application. This should open a window containing
- several files and directories. Double click on Choices
- to open it, then on 'Boot' and then on 'Tasks'.
- You should have a window open that says at the top
- something like:
-
- ADFS::HardDisc4.$.!Boot.Choices.Tasks
-
- Drag the multiboot application into this directory.
- After a matter of seconds the files will be copied and
- your hard disc will be able to boast a brand new
- application.
-
- That's about it, turn of your computer, turn on
- again and you should see the !Multiboot window
- after a few seconds. The options and menus
- are described in the 'InUse' file.
-
- If you are in a complete mess don't dispare and
- take a large axe to the monitor - it's not that
- bad. Give me a ring after 4.00pm weekdays or at
- weekends and I'll try and help.
