  17. This help file is written for users of the latest
  18. RISCOS versions (3.5 and greater). If this is not
  19. you look at the file called 'Install' in the help
  20. directory.

  25. Purpose
  26. ~~~~~~~
  27. Multi-boot is designed to make it easy to have
  28. several !boot files and select the one you want
  29. depending on what you are doing. For example you
  30. could have one file called Games file that opens 
  31. all the filer windows that contain games. You could
  32. have another file called DTP which loads !Ovation (or
  33. whatever) and increases the font cache, loads more
  34. fonts etc. Alternatively the program could be used
  35. in a situation where several people use the same
  36. computer and all want different settings; backdrop,
  37. memory allocations, apps loaded etc.

  39. Instalation
  40. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  41. Now you have reaslised the countless benifits of the
  42. program you will want to know how to get it running 
  43. on your machine ASAP.

  45. You shouldn't have any problems if you follow these 
  46. steps and don't have a strange machine.

  48. NOTE: If you haven't got a hard disc then this 
  49. program is about as much use as an issue of 
  50. Acorn User from 1991. (Before RISCOS3)
  51.  
  52. STEP1:
  53. Open the root directory of your hard disc. If your
  54. stuck already go and read the Acorn User Guide from
  55. cover to cover - twice.
  56.  
  57. STEP2:
  58. Now hold down SHIFT and double click on the !boot
  59. application. This should open a window containing
  60. several files and directories. Double click on Choices
  61. to open it, then on 'Boot' and then on 'Tasks'.
  62. You should have a window open that says at the top
  63. something like:

  65.     ADFS::HardDisc4.$.!Boot.Choices.Tasks
  66.     
  67. Drag the multiboot application into this directory.
  68. After a matter of seconds the files will be copied and 
  69. your hard disc will be able to boast a brand new 
  70. application.

  72. That's about it, turn of your computer, turn on
  73. again and you should see the !Multiboot window
  74. after a few seconds. The options and menus
  75. are described in the 'InUse' file.

  77. If you are in a complete mess don't dispare and
  78. take a large axe to the monitor - it's not that
  79. bad. Give me a ring after 4.00pm weekdays or at
  80. weekends and I'll try and help.
