  5. This short text file will explain the etiquette of Public Domain
  6. and  Shareware.  Please take a little time to read them and
  7. abide by them.

  9. Public Domain / Freeware

  12. Essentially, PD software may be copied and used by anyone,
  13. although some authors place restrictions such as not allowing a
  14. PD library to charge more than a certain amount for the disk that
  15. their work is on.  (Not a problem with this library).  You should
  16. not change an authors work and claim that it is yours, give the
  17. original author credit.  Files should not be delete, changed or
  18. added to any program.

  22. Shareware.

  25. These are the standard rules of shareware:
  26.  
  27. a) You may freely distribute unregistered copies of the software
  28. to other users.
  29.  
  30. b) You have a trial period to evaluate the software.
  31. (14 to 30 days)
  32.  
  33. c) If after this time limit you are still using the software or
  34. intend to use it in the future then you must register with the
  35. author and pay any registration fee due.  You are breaking the
  36. law if you fail to do so.

  38. d) If you do not intend using the software then you must delete
  39. it from your floppy / hard disc.

  41. Remember in most cases the authors of shareware have spent
  42. hundreds of hours creating programs of a very high quality for
  43. you to use.  It is up to you to register and ensure that the
  44. author gets some reward for his or her hard work.

  46. Please note that these are the basic rules and more conditions
  47. may be found within the program itself or in a help/text file.

  50. Licenseware
  51. ~~~~~~~~~~~

  53. This is a form of shareware which is licensed to one or more PD
  54. libraries.  In essence, when you buy a licenseware program you
  55. are buying low cost commercial software.  Don't pass it around
  56. to your friends.  You are the only one who has the right to use
  57. it.

  59. Please note that under British law the terms used in this text
  60. are not recognised.  The terms originated from the USA.
