"Browser," an exhibition curated by Andrew Renton and Kitty Scott, assisted by Kira Wu and Katherine Stout, was presented by The A.T. Eight Artropolis Society at the Roundhouse Community Centre, Vancouver, British Columbia, October 25 to November 23, 1997. The exhibition curators solicited material from artists practicing in British Columbia, Canada, inviting every artist or related practitioner to consign material to be stored in a standard Hollinger archival box and presented during the exhibition. The exhibition was accompanied by a visual and textual catalogue describing material received for the exhibition with an essay, "Introduction: a browser," by Scott and Renton, presented on CD ROM. In the course of preparing for the exhibition, records were generated (as well as material accumulated for reference) by the curators and other consultants, members, and agents of the Society.
Custodial history
The records were maintained in the custody of the Society and its responsible agents from the moment of the creation of the documents.
Scope and content
The documents, from the files of the Society accumulated in the course of producing the exhibition "Browser," consist of selected records including drafts of forms for registration of artists and for reception of material, and instructions for reception of material, curatorial research files, a file of press articles for reference, drafts of exhibition design drawings, exhibition installation schedule, correspondence with artists, research notes concerned with archives, archival material, and standards, and curatorial correspondence, as well as other records of the business transacted for "Browser."
