- Hi, Nelson,
-
- Thank you very much for including me in your mailing of this
- disk. The reading was highly interesting and informative.
-
- Your thoughts on shareware I agree with entirely, and I honestly
- don't feel that I can add measurable to your comments.
-
- I see the true problem as "saturation" of shareware by authors
- who've written sloppy programs. These programs should rightly be
- contributed to the public domain, but the thought seems to be
- "Well, I might just make some money on it. Nothing to lose."
-
- The result to the using public is a general feeling that the
- programs are public domain quality and a general attitude of
- "no need to support" such programs with contributions. The
- quantity of material also makes it hard for the really good
- entries to be discovered.
-
- My own prediction is that there will be no new successes in
- shareware, due to the saturation. I'm sorry to see it.
-
- I'm submitting a program for your library. You're the first to
- receive it. I may or may not mail it elsewhere. It's "public
- domain." I'd have included source code, but it's written in
- Business Basic and therefore useless to most people.
-
- Best regards,
-
- Jim
