  5.  This was written by an 8 year old,
  6. Danny Dutton of Chula Vista, CA, for
  7. his third grade homework assignment.
  8. The assignment was to explain God.
  9. Wonder if any of us could do as
  10. well???

  13.              EXPLAIN GOD
  14.  
  15.  
  16.     One of God's main jobs is making
  17. people. He makes them to replace the
  18. ones that die so there will be enough
  19. people to take care of things on
  20. earth. He doesn't make grown-ups, just
  21. babies. I think because they are
  22. smaller and easier to make. That way
  23. He doesn't have to take up His
  24. valuable time teaching them to talk
  25. and walk. He can just leave that to
  26. mothers and fathers.
  27.  
  28.     God's second most important job is
  29. listening to prayers. An awful lot of
  30. this goes on, since some people, like
  31. preachers and things, pray at times
  32. beside bedtime. God doesn't have time
  33. to listen to the radio or TV because
  34. of this. Because He hears everything,
  35. there must be a terrible lot of noise
  36. in His ears, unless He has thought of
  37. a way to turn it off. God sees
  38. everything and hears everything and is
  39. everywhere which keeps Him pretty
  40. busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His
  41. time by going over your Mom and Dad's
  42. head asking for something they said
  43. you couldn't have.

  45.     Atheists are people who don't
  46. believe in God. I don't think there
  47. are any in Chula Vista. At least there
  48. aren't any who come to our church.
  49.  
  50.     Jesus is God's Son. He used to do
  51. all the hard work like walking on
  52. water and performing miracles and
  53. trying to teach the people who didn't
  54. want to learn about God. They finally
  55. got tired of Him preaching to them and
  56. they crucified Him.
  57.  
  58.     But He was good and kind, like His
  59. Father and He told His Father that
  60. they didn't know what they were doing
  61. and to forgive them and God said O.K.
  62. His Dad (God) appreciated everything
  63. that He had done and all His hard work
  64. on earth so He told Him He didn't have
  65. to go out on the road any more. He
  66. could stay in Heaven. So He did. And
  67. now He helps His Dad out by listening
  68. to prayers and seeing things which are
  69. important for God to take care of and
  70. which ones He can take care of Himself
  71. without having to bother God. Like a
  72. secretary, only more important. You
  73. can pray anytime you want and they are
  74. sure to help you because they got it
  75. worked out so one of them is on duty
  76. all the time.

  78.     You should always go to church on
  79. Sunday because it makes God happy, and
  80. if there's anybody you want to make
  81. happy, it's God. Don't skip church to
  82. do something you think will be more
  83. fun like going to the beach. This is
  84. wrong. And besides the sun doesn't
  85. come out at the beach until noon
  86. anyway.

  88.     If you don't believe in God,
  89. besides being an atheist, you will be
  90. very lonely, because your parents
  91. can't go everywhere with you, like to
  92. camp, but God can. It is good to know
  93. He's around you when you're scared in
  94. the dark or when you can't swim and
  95. you get thrown into real deep water by
  96. big kids.

  98.     But...you shouldn't just always
  99. think of what God can do for you. I
  100. figure God put me here and He can take
  101. me back anytime He pleases.

  103.     And...that's why I believe in
  104. God."
