  7.     Immediately after getting this
  8. issue out, we will be transfering the
  9. Compleat LOADSTAR, 64HDD, our own
  10. 64HDriver, and several other programs
  11. to CD-ROM and building the
  12. Installation 3.5 inch disk. The LS
  13. Home Tower will be ready for orders by
  14. September 1!

  16.     Actually, with this design, you
  17. can save a lot of cash by aquiring a
  18. used PC (486 or better with 3.5 inch
  19. floppy disk drive and CD-ROM drive),
  20. then ordering the Cable, CD-ROM, and
  21. Installation disk from us. We will
  22. sell the Cable for $15 and the
  23. program package for $50.

  25.     Installation should not be that
  26. hard. Power up the PC and put the
  27. CD-ROM in the tray and the 3.5 inch
  28. disk in the drive. Then reset the
  29. computer. The autoboot program on the
  30. 3.5 inch disk will set everything up.
  31. In a minute or two, a beep will tell
  32. you that your Tower is ready. Connect
  33. the C-64 and other drives to the PC
  34. with the Cable, power everything up,
  35. and type:

  37.     LOAD"64:*",15:<Shift-RUN>

  39.  Soon you will have 64HDriver up and
  40. running, with complete access to your
  41. Home Tower.

  43.     For those who are unsure about
  44. getting everything together, we will
  45. offer loaded and tested Home Towers --
  46. software and hardware -- for $200 plus
  47. shipping.

  49.     Today, I used 64HDriver to load
  50. and run MODSTAR Copier from my 1541 on
  51. device 8, and copied the program to
  52. the PCs hard disk. It worked like a
  53. charm.

  55.     I especially enjoy the power of
  56. 64HDriver because I can use either
  57. VICE 1.9 on my PC or my C-64 to access
  58. any disk image on the hard drive. And
  59. that is where I keep [everything]!
  60. With this system, I no longer need to
  61. make disk transfers between systems.
  62. Everything is fairly integrated.

  64.     I just got news that Nick Copland
  65. has a "Pro" version of 64HDD coming
  66. out in September. When you order the
  67. Tower or Tower software, the software
  68. will be the current version. Your name
  69. will be registered with Nick, and you
  70. can upgrade through him for a fair
  71. price.

  73.     Or not. 64HDriver and 64HDD as it
  74. now stands does a great job for
  75. ordinary users. Again -- this is a
  76. mass storage unit, filled to the brim
  77. with the Compleat LOADSTAR Library,
  78. aimed at ordinary users.
