  2.     LOADSTAR'S  TRIBUTE TO AMERICA

  9.      At this time of national tragedy
  10. all Americans want to do what they can
  11. to help our country. Millions have
  12. given either money, blood, or their
  13. time to help those whose lives have
  14. been destroyed by an act of terrorism.
  15.  
  16.      But not all of us have that
  17. ability; I happen to be one of those.
  18. I don't have any money and due to
  19. three incurable medical conditions,
  20. can't give blood. But I can still help
  21. by giving people who recieve LOADSTAR
  22. some inspirational music to help get
  23. through some terrible times.
  24.  
  25.      The grief and sorrow that has
  26. been brought to these United States of
  27. America by some misguided lunatics has
  28. join our nation together and revived
  29. our patriotic spirit -- a spirit that
  30. until September 11, 2001 lay dormant,
  31. but nonetheless alive, within this
  32. great people. Now the sleeping giant
  33. has awaken! Beware all who would try
  34. and harm her or her citizens. The
  35. consequences will cost you dearly.
  36.  
  37.      I believe that the music you are
  38. about to hear was created just for
  39. that purpose. Not for revenge, but for
  40. justice for all those who were
  41. murdered for being citizens of a land
  42. that believes in freedom, human
  43. rights, and justice for all.
  44.  
  45.     (By justice I don't necssarily
  46. mean a trial. Americans should not in
  47. any way have to foot the legal fees
  48. for these vermin.)

  50.      This is not to say we are in any
  51. way perfect, but at least we strive to
  52. achieve goals of freedom, human
  53. rights, and justice. We [try], unlike
  54. those that tell others what is best
  55. for them, even if it harms them or
  56. takes away rights they justly
  57. deserved.
  58.  
  59.      Enough editorializing! On to the
  60. music that has inspired our country
  61. for decades.
  62.  
  63.      This month's selections are by
  64. the late great Irving Berlin; by Mr.
  65. Yankee Doodle Dandy himself, George M.
  66. Cohan; plus our national anthem: The
  67. Star Spangled Banner! I have included
  68. several more patriotic tunes (I'm sure
  69. you will know them).

  71.     The words are synchronized as
  72. well. Two of the songs are highly
  73. inspirational tunes transcribed to the
  74. by Dave Marques and of a religious
  75. nature (for those believers in a
  76. deity). I have always enjoyed these
  77. hymns!

  79.     I'm also including the 1812
  80. Overture, which Dave Moorman put
  81. together in a single presentation
  82. elsewhere on this issue. The piece was
  83. SIDded by the Master, Dave Marquis.
  84. Many of you may have never heard his
  85. version. It's a beautiful rendition I
  86. have enjoy listing to over and over
  87. again.

  89.  [P.S.] An apology to Ken Robinson! I
  90. thought I pioneered synchronized words
  91. with music on LOADSTAR. But I found
  92. that Ken did it first.

  97.  [DAVE'S POSTLUDE:] Corky has a
  98. chronic ailment called Fibromyalgia,
  99. which keeps his whole body in pain, 24
  100. hours a day. There is no cure, and
  101. pain medication only helps some. One
  102. thing Corky can do, when he is feeling
  103. up to it, is transcribe music and
  104. construct quizzes on his C-64. We are
  105. glad to share them with you.

  107.  In keeping with the spirit of
  108. Americans helping each other, Corky
  109. wants to help the people who are
  110. searching for a cure for this malady.
