- LOADSTAR'S TRIBUTE TO AMERICA
-
- Music By Corky Cochran
- & Dave Marques
- Text by Corky Cochran

-
- At this time of national tragedy
- all Americans want to do what they can
- to help our country. Millions have
- given either money, blood, or their
- time to help those whose lives have
- been destroyed by an act of terrorism.
-
- But not all of us have that
- ability; I happen to be one of those.
- I don't have any money and due to
- three incurable medical conditions,
- can't give blood. But I can still help
- by giving people who recieve LOADSTAR
- some inspirational music to help get
- through some terrible times.
-
- The grief and sorrow that has
- been brought to these United States of
- America by some misguided lunatics has
- join our nation together and revived
- our patriotic spirit -- a spirit that
- until September 11, 2001 lay dormant,
- but nonetheless alive, within this
- great people. Now the sleeping giant
- has awaken! Beware all who would try
- and harm her or her citizens. The
- consequences will cost you dearly.
-
- I believe that the music you are
- about to hear was created just for
- that purpose. Not for revenge, but for
- justice for all those who were
- murdered for being citizens of a land
- that believes in freedom, human
- rights, and justice for all.
-
- (By justice I don't necssarily
- mean a trial. Americans should not in
- any way have to foot the legal fees
- for these vermin.)
-
- This is not to say we are in any
- way perfect, but at least we strive to
- achieve goals of freedom, human
- rights, and justice. We [try], unlike
- those that tell others what is best
- for them, even if it harms them or
- takes away rights they justly
- deserved.
-
- Enough editorializing! On to the
- music that has inspired our country
- for decades.
-
- This month's selections are by
- the late great Irving Berlin; by Mr.
- Yankee Doodle Dandy himself, George M.
- Cohan; plus our national anthem: The
- Star Spangled Banner! I have included
- several more patriotic tunes (I'm sure
- you will know them).
-
- The words are synchronized as
- well. Two of the songs are highly
- inspirational tunes transcribed to the
- by Dave Marques and of a religious
- nature (for those believers in a
- deity). I have always enjoyed these
- hymns!
-
- I'm also including the 1812
- Overture, which Dave Moorman put
- together in a single presentation
- elsewhere on this issue. The piece was
- SIDded by the Master, Dave Marquis.
- Many of you may have never heard his
- version. It's a beautiful rendition I
- have enjoy listing to over and over
- again.
-
- [P.S.] An apology to Ken Robinson! I
- thought I pioneered synchronized words
- with music on LOADSTAR. But I found
- that Ken did it first.

- [DAVE'S POSTLUDE:] Corky has a
- chronic ailment called Fibromyalgia,
- which keeps his whole body in pain, 24
- hours a day. There is no cure, and
- pain medication only helps some. One
- thing Corky can do, when he is feeling
- up to it, is transcribe music and
- construct quizzes on his C-64. We are
- glad to share them with you.
-
- In keeping with the spirit of
- Americans helping each other, Corky
- wants to help the people who are
- searching for a cure for this malady.
- He asked that compensation for this
- Tribute be donated to the
-
- American Fibromyalgia
- Syndrome Association
