- Once upon a time, science fiction
-
- writers portrayed the Asteroid Belt as
-
- the rocky shoals of space, certain
-
- death for any ship straying there.
-
- Now, these stony planetoids hold the
-
- promise of incredible mineral wealth.
-
- Care to get in on the ground floor?
-
- Bruce Jaeger's SPACEDOG TRAINER
-
- lets you imagine just that--- it's a
-
- flight simulator for rocket pilots.
-
- Your object: take off from and return
-
- to one of two asteroid spaceports.
-
- While there is some debris to elude,
-
- the main focus is on flying. You
-
- control your craft with a joystick
-
- plugged into Port 1. The joystick
-
- only controls directional thrusters
-
- which determine the way the ship
-
- points; the fire button controls the
-
- main thrust.
-
- Once moving, you will continue in
-
- that direction until the same amount
-
- of thrust is applied in the opposite
-
- direction. SPACEDOG TRAINER also
-
- adds complications by limiting your
-
- fuel and letting the asteroid's weak
-
- gravity alter your flight path.
-
- True, the complications are
-
- challenging, but for those with the
-
- right stuff, the sky's the limit.
