  18.   In the past few years, loans which
  19.  
  20. operate on an adjustable interest rate
  21.  
  22. have gained in popularity.  As the
  23.  
  24. loan is paid off, the interest rate
  25.  
  26. is allowed to fluctuate within certain
  27.  
  28. limitations.  If the interest rates
  29.  
  30. begin to soar, borrowers will find
  31.  
  32. that their low monthly payments have
  33.  
  34. escalated into an unmanageable burden.
  35.  
  36. This is why borrowers will want to
  37.  
  38. predict the possible changes in their
  39.  
  40. payments.  For example, they will want
  41.  
  42. to find the worst case possible (i.e.
  43.  
  44. the interest rate reaches the maximum
  45.  
  46. allowed).
  47.  
  48.   ARAS.CALC was written to help
  49.  
  50. investigate the possible amortization
  51.  
  52. schedules for various types and
  53.  
  54. amounts of loans.  It also allows for
  55.  
  56. various types of 'pre-payments'.
  57.  
  58.   When the program is run, you will
  59.  
  60. be asked to input the following:
  61.  
  62.  1.  The initial loan amount.  This is
  63.      the amount you intend to borrow.
  64.  
  65.  2.  The number of years to repay the
  66.      loan. The maximum number of years
  67.      is 50.
  68.  
  69.  3.  Number of years to project.  This
  70.      will tell the program how many
  71.      years to forecast for the amount
  72.      of monthly payments.
  73.  
  74.  4.  Interest rates.  For each year
  75.      projected, type in the interest
  76.      rate as a decimal (.13 = 13%). If
  77.      you want a constant rate, just
  78.      enter a negative number.  This
  79.      will cause the previous interest
  80.      rate to be used in all further
  81.      calculations.

  83.  5.  Additional payments.  If you are
  84.      going to have additional
  85.      payments, you will be presented
  86.      with a menu of options.

  89.  After your totals are computed and

  91. printed, you will be given a chance to
  92.  
  93. modify your current data.
