  1. GENERAL allows you to choose a set of entities (excluding
  2. points) whose projections define a closed region in the
  3. current view. Islands are permitted inside of the selected
  4. outer perimeter.

  6. Choose Selection Menu option to specify the desired set of
  7. entities. As with crosshatching, islands can be chosen that
  8. which will be excluded (or included) as required.
  9.  
  10. If the selected entities do not form a closed shape, they
  11. are rejected. Press <Enter> to continue. Choose from the
  12. Selection Menu again, and reselect desired entities.

  14. Rectangular shapes (referred to as panels) are used to
  15. approximate the area of the selected shape. The area and
  16. centroid values are calculated by summing up the area and
  17. centroids for each panel within the shape. These panels 
  18. are stacked sequentially through the shape and are sized
  19. according to the assigned panel width value.

  21. A smaller width value generates more panels within the
  22. shape, therefore adding more accuracy to the area and
  23. centroid calculated.

  25. The area for the closed shape is calculated and displayed.
  26. Press <Enter> again to display the X and Y coordinates of
  27. the centroid, with respect to the view coordinate system
  28. (XV, YV). A temporary asterisk (*) is displayed at the
  29. centroid location.
