- FILE COMMANDS
- *************
-
- These are commands to deal with the filing and retrieval of drawings
- and sub-drawings.
-
- The user must select either READ, WRITE or DELETe before the DRAWG,
- SUBDR or TEXT specifications. Thus the complete sequence is FILE READ
- SUBDR or FILE WRITE SUBDR etc..
-
- If the READ TEXT or READ SUBDR options are last selected with the left
- button, scaling factors can be applied to the X and Y co-ordinate
- values separately. This is very useful in transforming between units,
- e.g. a factor of 0.03937 would be used to transform MM units to Inch
- units. If the X and Y scalings are different, arcs may become distorted
- spirals. All other dimensions, e.g. Symbol Heights, are modified by
- the Y scaling factor. Also allows for extraction of maximum or minimum
- models if dimensions are specified with tolerances. Not valid if more
- than one dimension specified for each of X and Y directions. This also
- allows the user change all entities defined in one PEN NUMBER to be
- reassigned to another PEN NUMBER. The reassignment must first be
- selected by the MODE DRAW PEN option.
-
- If the WRITE TEXT or WRITE SUBDR options are last selected with the
- left button, the user can choose to eliminate double lines or merge
- points that are close together, as well as redefining the RANGE of
- the sub-drawing for future compositions.
-
- The TEXT command will result in a file which can be edited by the
- user using the system text editor. This facility should normally only
- be used to interface QikDraw with other computer programs.
-
- The DRAWG commands are similar to the SUBDRawing commands when filing.
- However, the drawing information will only contain the placement of
- sub-drawings, and can be stored only after COMPOsing (see UTILIties)
- the drawing.
-
- SUBDRawings or DRAWinGs can be assigned a name. On any drawing file,
- there can be up to 120 drawings and 120 subdrawings.
-
- Before writing a subdrawing to a file, it is advisable to define
- reference points (see SET REF) for the subdrawing to allow for
- ease of retrieval.
-
- DELETe can apply to subdrawings, drawings or any file. If files are to
- be deleted, the option to use is FILE DELET TEXT. This deletion is not
- restricted to textfiles.
-
- FILE CLEAN will allow the cleaning up of data or symbol files. The old
- files will be compressed upon copying to a new file. The order of
- subdrawing and drawing names may be optionally sorted.
-
- Any sub-drawing may be read in as a REFERENCE DRAWING. This can be done
- only before any other information has been created. The REF-D would be
- displayed (lines only) as dotted lines. The REF-D can be re-drawn by the
- DRAW REF-D command.
-
- VIEW will allow the viewing of text files.
-
- DIRectory command would allow user to check on the drawings and
- sub-drawings stored on file.
-
- Use the *BACKup command for fast backup. The structure of the file is
- similar to FILE WRITE SUBD but is completely written to the file
- BCKFIL.BCK. Users will be reminded to perform the backup function after
- a set number of operations. This is completely optional.
-
- Replays will start from the last version that was backed up.
-
- RETRIeve is now used to retrieve the backup Sub-Drawing (changed from
- previous function). Be careful if there are existing entities.
