  1. CURVE MANIPULATIONS

  4. Smooth curves are achieved in QikDraw by selecting points lying on the 
  5. curve and then applying piece-wise cubic curve fitting to the points.
  6. BEZIER curves and B-SPLINES are also supported. A POLYLINE option
  7. is available to group lines together.
  8.  
  9. For drawings with a large number of complex curves requiring a large
  10. number of definition points, the program limit for points may be
  11. exceeded. This can be overcome by "fixing" some of the curves through
  12. the TRANSform option. "Fixed" curves will require a smaller number of
  13. points for reference.
  14.  
  15. The following secondary selections are allowed:-
  16.  
  17.     ADD:-     Curves are added by selecting points (may or may not be 
  18.               pre-defined).
  19.               The graphical tertiary menu will be displayed. Three 
  20.               options are allowed. If the OPEN UNCONTROLLED option is 
  21.               selected, all points will be used to draw the open-ended 
  22.               curve. If the OPEN CONTROLLED option is selected, curves 
  23.               will be drawn from the second selected point to the 
  24.               penultimate point. The first two points will define the 
  25.               start tangent and the last two points will define the end 
  26.               tangent. The curve will close itself if the CLOSE option 
  27.               is selected.
  28.     DELETE:-  Curves are deleted by locating a point lying on the curve.
  29.               If option selected with the LEFT button, the user will be  
  30.               able to delete curves in reverse order of storage.
  31.     TRANS:-   Curves may be transformed into FIXED form to save storage
  32.               and speed up display. This is the recommended way to 
  33.               process a large number of complex curves. Fixed curved 
  34.               cannot be modified, blanked or unpacked.
  35.               Alternate selection allows for transformation of fixed
  36.               curves back into the regular form.
  37.     STYLE:-   Curves can have line styles as in lines.
  38.     CHANGE:-  Curve specifications (pen, thickness, style) can be 
  39.               altered to be those currently active by selecting this 
  40.               option and then locating a point on the curve.
  41.               Alternate selection allows for the change of:-
  42.                 a). CURVE TYPE, or
  43.                 b). PEN NUMBER only, or 
  44.                 c). Line style and thickness only. 
  45.               This alternate selection also allows for changes in 
  46.               GLOBAL mode.
  47.     PEN:-     Specify pen number and line thickness as for lines.
  48.     UNPAK:-   Unpacks the selected portion of the curve into line
  49.               segments joining the definition points. The lines are
  50.               created in the currently defined line style. The curve is
  51.               retained. Useful in preparing for hatching of planes 
  52.               (defining the connecting lines as construction line types).
  53.     MERGE:-   Two curves may be merged. A new curve is generated. The new 
  54.               curve takes the line style of the first curve selected.
  55.     BREAK:-   A curve can be broken up into two by this option. The curves
  56.               generated are of the regular form even if the original curve
  57.               is fixed.
  58.     BLANK:-   Blank out part of curve between two definition points.
  59.               Alternate selection with the LEFT button allows for
  60.               restoration of the blanked out portions.
  61.     MODIFY:-  Adding curve definition points onto the curve.
  62.               Alternate selection deletes curve definition points.
