-
- The Farmer's Guide is an essential manual for all would-be farmers.
- Let's take a look at it.
-
- pos : 538, 56
- openmenu : 6, 2
- To open the Guide, move the mouse cursor to the top of the game
- screen to activate the game menu. Under the "Help" menu, you find
- the "Farmer's Guide".
-
- runmenu : 6, 2
-
- pos : 86, 168, 128, 178
- mouse : left single
- Suppose your plan is to set up a farm to grow cotton.
- Click "Cotton" to read about the best conditions for cotton farming.
-
- pos : 190, 309
- The information for cotton is now shown. The best temperature and
- rainfall for growing cotton and the months in which cotton is sown
- and harvested are shown here.
-
- pos : 330, 155, 381, 164
- mouse : left single
- Beside crops, the Farmer's Guide also contains information about livestock.
- Select this livestock to see how the livestock portion of the Guide works.
-
- pos : 215, 343
- Each type of livestock can be used to produce raw materials for
- your factories, or finished goods for your department stores. Of
- course, you can also sell goods directly to other corporations.
- Here are the products that can be made from the selected
- livestock.
-
- pos : 316, 434, 330, 444
- mouse : left single
- Now you have a basic understanding of the Farmer's Guide,
- it's time to set up your first farm.
-
- Click the "Ok" button to close the Guide.
-
- pos : 281, 63, 308, 76
- mouse : left single
- As stated in the guide, you should grow cotton in an area with
- warm climate and plentiful rainfall. To find a such an area on the
- map, press the "Climate Map" button.
-
- pos : 128, 115
- Each color in the climate map represents a different climate.
- To grow cotton, you should select a location in the orange region
- where the climate is warm.
-
- pos : 33, 108, 47, 122
- mouse : left single
- Click this area of the climate map.
-
- pos : 366, 61, 545, 190
- mouse : left single
- Next click a location in the detailed map.
-
- pos : 430, 272
- The climate, rainfall, and soil fertility of the highlighted location is
- shown in this area. This location isn't bad but the rainfall
- isn't enough to grow cotton.
-
- pos : 281, 63, 308, 76
- mouse : left single
- To find a location with plentiful rainfall for cotton, click
- the climate button again to display the rainfall map.
-
- pos : 75, 110
- Areas in deeper blue color have more rainfall. As plentiful
- rainfall is required for growing cotton, your farm should be
- in a deep blue region.
-
- pos : 281, 63, 308, 76
- mouse : left single
- Click the climate map button one more time.
-
- pos : 125, 125
- This is the soil fertility map. All farmers know that crops grown in a
- location with better soil fertility are better quality. When
- selecting a location for your farm, choose one with the highest
- soil fertility possible.
-
- When selecting a location for your farm, you should try to
- find a grassland location with WARM climate, PLENTIFUL rainfall
- and high soil fertility. Though it is possible to build your farm
- in any grassland, growing crops in a less favorable location
- will result in poor crop quality.
-
- wait : 20,400
- checkpoint : 21
- Now choose a location for your farm and click "Continue Tutorial"
- when you are ready to continue.
-
- pos : 276, 312, 313, 334

-
- Now the crop growing unit receives your order and will sow
- cotton when the sowing month arrives. The crop growing unit
- will take care of sowing, growing, harvesting, and even storing
- your cotton. A crop growing unit is very versatile.
-
- pos : 418, 259, 480, 313

- Link the two units together by double-clicking the link
- line between them.
-
- pos : 425, 339, 472, 381
- Once the units are linked, you can tell the livestock
- processing unit to process the animals it receives from the livestock
- raising unit.
-
- pos : 179, 340, 229, 350
- mouse : left single

- openmenu : 6, 3
- To determine the meaning of these indicators, look at the
- Manager's Guide. It gives detailed information about the data
- shown in each type of unit.
-
- runmenu : 6,3
-
- Here is the Manager's Guide. It can be started from the "Help"
- menu, or with the F10 shortcut key. You can call it up anytime in
- the game for a quick check on the meaning of the info displayed
- in any unit.
-
- pos : 332, 438, 350, 452
- mouse : left single
- Now click on the "Ok" button to close the Guide and continue the tutorial.
-
- pos : 506, 338, 557, 382
- mouse : left double
- checkunit : 6, 12
- We still need a sales unit to sell the livestock products.
-
- Double-click on this slot to set one up.
-
- pos : 484, 357, 498, 363
- mouse : left double
- action : enable_next_day
- Next, double-click on this line to link the livestock processing
- unit and the sales unit.
-
- pos : 281, 260, 309, 275
- mouse : left single
- Now click on the Information button to show the information about
- your farm.
-
- pos : 368, 290
- The livestock product is ready for sale and available to all
- interested buyers, who are mostly retailers. Buyers are willing
- to purchase any product that is attractive in terms of price,
- quality, and brand.
-
- pos : 281, 138, 309, 151
- mouse : left single
- If you want to know who is buying your products, press
- the "Linkage" button to put the map into firm linkage mode.
-
- pos : 36, 113, 45, 118
- In this mode, any firms that have business relations with the
- highlighted firm are shown with lines joining them to the
- highlighted firm. At this point, you shouldn't expect too many
- buyers, as the product has just been launched onto the market.
-
- pos : 365, 408, 388, 416
- Though not common, it is absolutely okay not to sell your
- products to external buyers. If you press the "Internal Sale"
- button, the product will be sold only to firms owned by your
- corporation. Other corporations will not be allowed to buy this
- product.
-
- However, those buyers who have been buying the products are not
- affected, because you are not allowed to suddenly cut the supply
- of a product. You could raise its price, though. To cancel an
- internal sale, click on the button again.
-
- You now have the basic knowledge necessary to set up and manage a
- farm and are ready to move on to the next lesson.
