Mike Robitaille’s name is synonymous with hockey in Western New York. Mike has been the co-host of HOCKEY HOTLINE which follows all Sabres games on Empire Sports Network for 9 years. Now he brings his knowledge WNSA Radio as one of “The Sharpshooters”, along with Jim Kelley of FoxSports.com. The pair has given Western New York some of the most insightful hockey talk heard in this area in many years. The former star of the Buffalo Sabres has the ability to inject a great deal of personality into his broadcasts through objective comments on the Sabres performance, which has earned Mike the respect of hockey fans throughout the viewing and listening audience.
Prior to his current stint on HOCKEY HOTLINE, Mike also spent 10 years as the TV/Radio analyst for Buffalo Sabres broadcasts. Away from hockey, Mike is the Owner and Vice-President of Robitaille Relocation & Real Estate, Inc.
During his 10 years as a defenseman in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks, Mike was known as one of the hardest hitting players in the league. Never one to shy away from physical play, Mike’s hip checks on opponents crossing the blue line were legendary. His hard hitting broadcast style on HOCKEY HOTLINE and WNSA is equally impressive.
Mike was known by his peers as being strictly a TEAM player and also admits to being known for his good looks.
A native of Midland, Ontario, Mike has lived in Williamsville, NY since 1978 claiming to be the first Buffalo Sabre to be a full-time resident of the Buffalo area. He lists his work as his number one hobby, but he also enjoys golf and spending time with his wife, Isabel, and two children, Amique and Sarah. Mike is also involved in charitable causes serving on the Board of Directors of the M.S. Society.
