  17.    This  file  wants  to  tell  you  that  there  will be a quite delicious
  18.    computer  demo festival this year, involving all the platforms which are
  19.    important  in  the  guild  of  the  demomakers,  namely Amiga, PC, C-64,
  20.    Archimedes and the Atari ST/Falcon.  Think twice before missing it!

  24. 2.> WHO
  25.  
  26.    This  event  is  held  by  three of the most experienced party-organizer
  27.    teams  in  Germany:   the people behind the 680XX-Convention (1993), the
  28.    Black  Box  Symposium (1995) and the Fried Bits.  For the Symposium '96,
  29.    which  we plan to become the best German party so far, these three teams
  30.    fusioned  for  not  standing  in  competition  to each other but joining
  31.    forces and making everything better than ever!

  33.    The  groups  involved  are:   Polka  Brothers,  Lego Club, Phantasm (for
  34.    Amiga), Avena, Absence (for Atari) and Oxyron (for C-64).

  38. 3.> WHY
  39.  
  40.    We, the organizers, observed that the amount of poorly organized and too
  41.    commercial  parties  increased  during  the  last years, even outside of
  42.    Germany.   Our  country  has  always  been  well  known for low-standard
  43.    parties, but 1995 has been the most disappointing year.

  45.    We (and probably the rest of the scene, too) felt that it was time for a
  46.    party  where  you  could  have  fun  again,  a  party that would be well
  47.    organized,  and  NOT  a  party  at  which  you feel that not you is what
  48.    counts, but the money.

  50.    We don't want to rent huge congress centres, we don't want to organize a
  51.    party  with hundreds of super-duper hyper interactive virtual multimedia
  52.    features,  we  don't want to make money - we all just want a party where
  53.    you  are  welcome to have a nice time; which is, after all, what a party
  54.    is ought to be.

  58. 4.> WHEN
  59.  
  60.    Eastern 1996.  Four days of fun and experience:

  62.    START  5th April, 1200 CET
  63.    END    8th April, 1200 CET

  65.    The  entrace  fee  will  amount  to  35DM.   We  will not accept foreign
  66.    currencies.

  70. 5.> WHERE
  71.  
  72.    A  nice  convention center called "Veranstaltungszentrum Burg Seevetal",
  73.    which  is located in the very near south of Hamburg, Germany.  It offers
  74.    place for about 1000 people including computers, a really big screen and
  75.    surround  sound.   You  don't  have  to  be afraid of 24h of loud music,
  76.    though...
  77.  
  78.    You  can reach it via everything.  If you're going to come by train, you
  79.    first  have to reach Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (main station) and take the S3
  80.    or  S31 (on Gleis 4, HVV price 4DM) to "Harburg", where we will pick you
  81.    up  with  the  Symposium shuttle service.  Alternatively, you can use of
  82.    the hourly public busses to "Seevetal".

  84.    Coming  by  plane,  you  will use the bus shuttle service to the station
  85.    "Ohlsdorf", wait for the U1, get out at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and, again,
  86.    take the S3/S31 to reach "Harburg".
  87.  
  88.    If   you   arrive   by  ship,  then  you'll  have  to  take  the  U3  at
  89.    "Landungsbrücken" to reach the Hauptbahnhof.

  91.    If  you  come by spaceship, there is a big area on the other side of the
  92.    Symposium  convention center; please try to land it there (parking is of
  93.    course free).

  95.    For  the  case that you own a car, you have two possibilities to arrive:
  96.    The  A1  ("Autobahn  1") and the A7.  Coming from the north or south via
  97.    A7/B4,  you  have  to  leave at Abfahrt "Fleestedt".  Then roll down the
  98.    "Hittfelder  Landstraße" (part of the B4) southwards and follow the sign
  99.    "Veranstaltungszentrum".   Coming  from  east  or  west via A1, take the
  100.    Abfahrt "Hittfeld" and follow the signs.

  104. 6.> COMPETITIONS
  105.  
  106.    Yes,  a  lot!  Not only demo and intro competitions for all the computer
  107.    systems  and  the  usual  module,  multichannel  and graphics compos are
  108.    included.   There  will  also be compos for video demos, a wild compo, a
  109.    coding   compo   (4K-intro)   etc.    We   will   even   hold  an  Acorn
  110.    Archimedes/RISC-PC competition, if there will be enough entries present.
  111.    Or  a  Silicon  Graphics democompo, if more than one entry exists...  No
  112.    limits!

  114.    ** CONDITIONS FOR COMPETITION ENTRIES (brief overview)

  116.       PREFACE:
  117.          ANONYMOUS  means  that  the entries may not give a hint to who the
  118.          author  is.   You  may of course deliver a version with name tags,
  119.          which will be the spread one.

  121.       Graphics: max. 640x512 24bit, 1.4MB. IFF(-24), PNG or JPEG.
  122.         (ANONYMOUS!)

  124.       ProTracker Module: We will show 3 minutes, max. 1MB unpacked.

  127.       Music: max. 1.4MB executable. We will show 3 minutes.

  130.       Coding: No music, one effect, 4KB max., We will show 2 minutes.

  133.       Intro: 40K Amiga, 64K PC, 96K Falcon. We will show 5 minutes.

  135.       Demo: 4MB, no Assigns or similar installation. We will show
  136.          15minutes max.

  138.       Video: VHS or S-VHS cassette in PAL format. 10 minutes max.

  140.       Wild: No rules! ;-)

  144.       Amiga: must run on AGA, 020, 2+4MB. Will be shown on a 030/50MHz.
