- SOLVING DISCONNECT PROBLEMS
-
- DISCONNECTS WITH LANBIOS versions 1.92 or earlier:
-
- (1) Set unique node addresses on each LANBIOS comm and line using
- the NODE=x switch. Then use LANCHECK to find failing adapters
- or cables.
-
- (2) Add the following switch to the LANBIOS command line on all
- nodes: BUFFERS=10
-
- (3) Add the STACK switch to the LANBIOS command line on all nodes.
-
- (4) On XTs change from IRQ=2 to another available IRQ for the
- LANtastic adapter's interrupt.
-
- (5) Make sure the server startup parameter NETWORK TASKS (in the
- NET_MGR program) is set 1 with NOS version 2.53 and earlier.
-
- (6) Do not use DOS 3.2. It has internal stack handling problems and
- possibly other problems.
-
- (7) As a last resort, if you are using LANBIOS 1.92, switch to 1.83.
- The 1.83 version can be found in a directory called LB183 on
- your distribution diskette.
-
- (8) Finally, what type of cabling are you using? We recommend using
- LANtastic cabling whenever possible. With LANtastic cabling,
- you should be able to achieve a total network bus length of 1500
- feet. If your network length is longer than this, you may
- experience disconnect problems. Using a LANtastic Hub to repeat
- and strengthen the signal may be required in this case. The
- only other types of cables we can recommend are: Belden 9729 up
- to 1000' total bus length (no other Belden cable is equivilent!)
- and AT&T twisted pair phone grade cable up to 300' total bus
- length (in some environments may be shorter).
-
-
- DISCONNECTS WITH AILANBIO/WD8003 version 1.01:
-
- (1) Set the following switches on the AILANBIO command line:
- ACK_TIMEOUT=10 RETRY_PERIOD=10
-
- (2) Set this switch on WD8003 command line:
- PACKET_SIZE=570
-
- (3) Make sure the server startup parameter NETWORK TASKS (in the
- NET_MGR program) is set 1 with NOS version 2.53 and earlier.
-
- (4) Do not use DOS 3.2.
