- MCFreq V2.00 File Request Routing.
-
- Using the following :
-
-
- Town-A Town-B Town-C
- |_______________________|_______________________|
-
- Town-A is a local phone call to Town-B, but not to Town-C.
-
- Town-B is local to both A and C
-
- Town-C is local to B but not A
-
- If the system in Town-B will allow File Request Routing to the
- systems in A and C, then those systems can Route their File
- Requests through B.
-
- In order to do this, some configuration is required, as well as co-
- operation between the systems.
-
- Town-A Setup
- ------------
- You MUST have Town-B set up as a system that you can request from.
- This is entered via MCFreqEd by Adding A System. Set it up as a
- normal system, as per the Docs. No special considerations are needed
- to request through Town-B.
-
- Town-C MUST also be configured. Use TOWN-C's normal network address
- but for the ROUTING address, use TOWN-B's address. This way MCFreq
- will know that requests to Town-C will be routed through Town-B.
-
- Thats all there is to it... Now, when you do a request from Town-C,
- MCFreq will create a special .MCF packet, and create a file attach
- message to send it to Town-B. (See below) Town-B will then request
- the file from Town-C, and send you back the file when it gets it.
-
- This .MCF packet is a file that is stored in your Mailer directory.
- DO NOT delete this file, as it will be deleted automatically by
- MCFRAM when the file arrives.
-
- Town-B Setup
- ------------
-
- If Town-B agrees to Route Requests between Town-A and C then you
- MUST add both systems. Routing Address is the same as Network
- Address for both systems. HOWEVER, you must set PassThrough to Y for
- Yes. If you do not do this then your system will refuse to Route the
- Requests.
-
- When Town-A does a Request from Town-C, it will send your system a
- special .MCF packet, which MCFram will read, and then if you allow
- Routed Requests to this system, create a file request message. Once
- you receive the file, MCFram will create a file attach message and
- and send the file back to Town-A.
-
- If you do not support Routed Requests to this system, then MCFRAM
- will create a message to the SYSOP of the requesting system. This
- message will inform them that the request was not routed, and that
- you do not support Routed Requests to that system.
-
-
- General
- -------
-
- ALL mail written to other systems will use the netmail attributes
- that you have configured for them.
-
-
- IMPORTANT!
- ----------
-
- MCFRAM should be run whenever your system receives files! This will
- ensure faster turnaround times for routed requests. If you only run
- MCFRAM in your nightly maintenance event, then your system would not
- forward the request until your event, and then would not send it
- back until your next event.
