- The new Silver Xpress programs not use Swapping technology if requested.
- With EXEC SWAPPING, Xpress will leave only 5k in memory and return the
- rest to the system.
-
- In XPMAIL.EXE, Xpress calls 3rd party utilities at the following points:
-
- 1) Download/Upload of OPX/REP files.
- 2) Compression/Expansion of OPX/REP files.
- 3) Xpress Service Calls.
-
- If you run of memory, then Exec Swapping will fix the problem for you:
-
- You can now set up swapping in many 2 ways:
-
- - use the global command line switch -ES or set the Use Exec
- Swap option in XPCFG.
-
- - or use the # prefix for all process commands in XPCFG. By using
- the # prefix, this allows you to only set up exec swapping for
- individual programs. Ones that take more memory than others.
-
- When EXEC swapping is taking place, Xpress will leave about 5k and
- call the desired program. Xpress will swap itself by default to
- Extended or Expanded Memory if available. You can have Xpress swap to
- disk as well. If you have a ram drive, this works very well.
