- I received this recipe from a friend, while it is not *real* exotic it is very

- Does anyone have a recipe for almond bars? They were moist and chewy and
- didn't have any chunks in them, so the almond must be flavoring, not actual
- almonds. These were really good but so plain they're hard to describe.
- .RE
- It's almond paste, which is ground up almonds and sugar. You can find it in
- small packages or tins in the baking aisle in the supermarket. It's popular
- among Dutch folks - if you find a Dutch store (like in the Grand Rapids, MI
- area) you can even buy it in huge 7lb cans.
- .PP
- Here's a yummy recipe I got from my (Dutch) mother-in-law:

- Cream together butter and almond paste.
- .SK 2
- Beat in eggs and sugar until smooth.
- .SK 3
- Stir in flour and salt (you may want to sift them together beforehand, but
- it works ok without).
- .SK 4
- Pour into prepared
- .AB "9x13 inch" "23x33 cm"

- into the corners. Sprinkle with sliced almonds, pat lightly to press into
- surface. Bake,

- I haven't made this, but it looks like the standard recipe. (The beans
