Transcription: Egyptians made clay pots in many shapes for different purposes. Pots were used for carrying water, for cooking, and for storage. To shape a pot, the potter placed a ball of clay on a turntable. A turntable is a flat, round table. Spinning the turntable while shaping the clay made it easier to make a pot even. The pot was decorated with red paint. Sometimes potters use red and white clay together. together to make patterns. The new pot dried in the sun. Then it was baked in a kiln, an oven used for baking clay to make it hard and strong.
