Transcription: Many Egyptians, both men and women, shaved their heads. Having a cleanly-shaven head helped them avoid lice, and it was considered good-looking. Men and women wore wigs to shield themselves from the sun. The wigs were made of real hair or black wool bound into many small braids and held together by beeswax. Sometimes people who did not shave their heads wore wigs anyway. Boys, especially Especially wealthy boys shaved their heads except for one braided lock on the side. Girls often had two braids. People usually took care with their appearance. Messy hair was a sign of grief and mourning.
