While they were at the temple, priests bathed four times a day and shaved all over to make themselves pure for the gods. Each temple had a small room containing a statue of the god of the temple. Three times a day, a priest entered the room. The priest bathed and dressed the statue and then offered it a meal. Afterwards, the priest left the room, sweeping up his footprints as he went.
